This is my my latest design, a simple cross quilt. Quick and easy and so cheerful and jolly for this year’s festive season!
What I love about The Christmas Cross Quilt.
I designed this simple quilt to feature children’s Christmas fabric. I wanted to show off one particular fabric: The Cookie Cutter Christmas fabric by J. Wecker-Frisch. This is a lovely fabric featuring cookie cut shapes on pine green background. When I made the cross block with the Cookie Cutter Christmas fabric, I thought the block looked a little dull. So I did some careful fabric selection to make the block shine!
Modifying the Quilt Pattern
To complement the Christmas fabric I used white and Gingerbread coloured solid coloured fabrics. I loved the way those 2 fabrics remind me of iced gingerbread men!
I used Christmas polka dot fabric for the borders of the Christmas Cross Quilt, and a deep red solid fabrics for the 4 Cornerstone blocks.
Here is my first completed quilt top:
Here is my 2nd quilt top with a border:
I think the border brings a little more calmness to this quilt, and makes it a little bit bigger. The quilt now measures 38′ square.
Now all that is left, is to do the quilting!
