I’ve been having some fun practicing free motion quilt designs on my new modern quilt: Stacking Plates.
I have been building up my repertoire of Free Motion designs I am comfortable and confident using. As well as practicing on samples I have also been practicing on real quilts. FMQ on real larger quilts is very different to practicing on a small sample!
Here’s one of my samples:
I love their suggestions and tips, check them out for some detailed videos and books to help you on your quilting journey.
Angela Walters recommends you that as well as practicing on small samples you also practice on real quilts. Her 2nd big suggestion: don’t feel so bad if you make mistakes, we are all still learning. Great advice!
So I’m sharing some photos from my Free Motion Quilting on the Stacking Plates Quilt. Some of my quilting I’m really happy with and a few of them I’m really disappointed with! But hey I’m doing it because I love it and want to get better at it. I also use these quilting attempts as a sort of testing tool. To see what I’m doing well and what I need to work on.
Please add your comments (kind please 😉) to this blog post and let me know you thoughts and what you are working on in your quilting journey.
